Singapore President to visit Maldives

MALE, October 23, 2007 (Haveeru News Service) -- The President of Singapore, S.R. Nathan is scheduled to conduct a State Visit to the Maldives, the President’s Office announced on Sunday.

Nathan is visiting the Maldives on the invitation of Maldives’ President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. The Singaporean President’s visit is scheduled for the 23rd to the 26th of October, the President’s Office said in a press release.

Nathan will call on Gayoom during the visit.

The Singaporean President will also attend a State Banquet hosted in his honour by President Gayoom.

One of the highlights of the Singaporean President’s State Visit will be the inauguration of the Ghaazee School in Hulhumale, which was constructed under Singaporean assistance. Ghaazee School will be inaugurated jointly by President Gayoom and President Nathan, the President’s Office said.
